Explore, create, uplift.
Sparking change through communication design.

The name, The Good Citizen, was inspired by a desire to push the idea of good citizenship forward, by questioning certain, persistent realities that are destructive to people and the planet. By the studio’s definition, good citizenship doesn’t mean accepting the status quo, particularly if it’s broken. Instead, it embraces the possibility that the world could progress from its present situation.

Small, with big dreams. This is a one-woman operation and the creative practice of Katherine Valenzuela (she/her), who has loved graphic design since childhood. Katherine has lived in the Philippines, Toronto, and Montreal, and is fascinated with how identities could be tied to people’s sense of place. She loves thinking about how creativity can build community and inspire belonging. Katherine holds a BFA degree in Design from Concordia University and a Master’s degree in Design for Health from OCAD University.

Together, let's craft compelling visuals, ignite crucial conversations, and drive meaningful progress.
